So it has been a LONG time since I last posted so I have decided to just make this a bit of a catch-up post. So here goes...
I spend a lot of my time at work at Juniper Take-out. It is a fun place to work, the people are hilarious, but it is still work. Funny story of last night: I was carrying a pot of soup back to the kitchen to refill it. (There was only about an inch left in the bottom) When I was about to walk through the swinging metal doors, my co-worker Sierra walked out the other side. Her door hit the soup pot and knocked it out of my hands. Soup went EVERYWHERE right in front of a bunch of customers. We just stood there and laughed.
School is going pretty well... it would be going better if I applied myself more... :)
I also spend a lot of my time across the street at M-4 playing computer games with Ben (he was the one that took those awesome pictures on an earlier of my posts). We've.... gotten to be better friends. :) and he has gotten me to play this game called World of Warcraft. I'm not very good with computers, so a lot of time I just feel silly because he is great with them. But I'm learning the game. At first I didn't like it because he played it a lot and I wanted to do other things, but then I played and it was actually pretty fun. It's this big game that people play from all over the world. It's a big thing. Ben uses it to stay in touch with his friends from Grantsville.
I guess the biggest new turn that I have taken in my college life so far is my choice to change my major. Er... to actually decide on a major. I chose Social Work. I have just always had these crazy dreams to go help tons of people and just solve the world's problems. We'll see how that goes... but my ideal emphasis would be to work with adoption with teen moms. Every time I tell people what my major is, they say something about it being really sad or depressing, and that always sounds like they are discouraging me or something. I don't like it because I feel like I can handle it. I'm excited!
Also, I have been volunteering at two different elementary schools in Logan every week. I have only done it for two weeks now, but I have already been inspired. Both of the schools are Title 1 schools and both have a really high percentage of ESL kids. So lately I have been really inspired to learn Spanish. One, I just think it would be cool to be bilingual, and two, I think it would help me a ton in my career. Tonight I was tutoring at Adams elementary and I got to hear a little family speaking Spanish and I LOVED listening to it. I feel all pumped and determined.
Well, that is pretty much my life right now in a nutshell. I'll post some pictures later.
